Students will love the experience of participating in this fun and educational program. At Alpine, we believe in life long learning and fitness for life. Learning to skate provides students with skills, friendships and a leisure activity, which may last for a lifetime. It is recognised that the balanced development of mind, body and character is essential for students in today's society. Our program integrates various areas of the curriculum and aims to contribute to the holistic development of the student through ice sports and related activities. The structured lessons encourage good attitudes towards physical activity and explore the relationships between the students and others. The program allows you to tailor and develop a unit study for 6-8 weeks around ice, winter themes and sports to suit your students' needs. There are many ideas that we could develop together to create a fun learning environment specific to your group. Some examples are:On-ice skill sessions to learn basic skating skills (based on the National badge system)School presentations by Alpine Ice staff - for example: ice sports, ice making and maintenanceScience project - for example: how ice is formedHealthArtCreative WritingTechnology - for example: how skates are madeSocial Studies - for example: Winter Olympics, Cool Runnings
